Joyalukkas is a large jewellery chain of Indian origin with a wide presence in India and the Gulf states. Its core range is gold: chains, bracelets, rings, earrings and bridal sets, alongside diamond and coloured-stone pieces and items in silver and platinum. A noticeable share of demand goes to bridal and festive collections styled in the traditional South Indian manner, with simpler everyday designs sitting next to them. Some stores also sell gold bullion coins. A gift card is used to pay for jewellery and accessories in the chain's showrooms — normally in the country and currency the card was issued for. Because the price of a gold piece is made up of weight, purity, the current metal rate and the cost of the workmanship, the card is more often used towards part of a larger purchase than to cover it in full.
How to redeem the card

- Choose a piece in store and ask the assistant to work out the final price.
- At the till, present the card or read out the code before the receipt is issued.
- Make sure the card amount has been included in the calculation, and pay the difference in cash or by bank card.
- Take the receipt and the certificate for the piece — you will need them for exchange, valuation or resale later on.

Can the card be used for gold coins or bars?
Rules for bullion metals usually differ from those for jewellery, and such items may only be payable by ordinary methods. Check this with an assistant before choosing what to buy.
What determines the final price of a purchase?
The price of a gold piece is made up of the weight and purity of the metal at the current rate, plus a making charge; for pieces with stones, their valuation is added on top. That is why the price of the same design changes from day to day.
Can the card be used towards a gold instalment scheme?
Savings schemes are set up under a separate agreement and normally follow their own payment rules. Combining them with a gift card is not always possible — it is settled at the individual showroom.
