Deliveroo is a food and grocery delivery service founded in the United Kingdom and operating in a number of countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Through the app and the website you can order dishes from nearby restaurants, cafés and fast-food chains, and in some cities items from partner shops as well: groceries, drinks and everyday essentials. An order can be placed for courier delivery or, at some venues, for collection. A gift card tops up the balance of a Deliveroo account: the funds go towards the cost of the food and, depending on regional rules, towards delivery, the service fee and the rider's tip. Which restaurants are available depends on the city and the address. The card is tied to the country and currency it was issued for — as a rule it cannot be used on an account in another region, so it is worth matching the currency to the recipient's country.
How to redeem the card
- Make sure the service covers the delivery address and that the account's country matches the card's country.
- Sign in to your account in the app or on the website, or register a new one.
- In the section for gift cards and promo codes, enter the code from the card — the amount will be credited to the account balance.
- Place an order: at the payment step choose to pay from the balance, and cover any remainder by card if needed.
- After paying, check that the amount came off the balance and not only off your bank card.
FAQ
Will the balance cover delivery and fees?
In most regions the funds from a gift card cover the whole bill, including delivery and the service fee. Rules on tips vary: sometimes you are asked to pay them separately by bank card.
Can credited funds be passed on to someone else?
No. Once redeemed, the amount is tied to a particular account and cannot be moved. If the card is a gift, pass on the code itself rather than redeeming it yourself.
What happens if an order is cancelled?
A refund usually comes back by the method used for payment: the part taken from the balance returns to the account balance and stays available for the next order.
Does the card work with a free delivery subscription?
Subscription plans and one-off orders are different kinds of payment, and paying for a subscription from a gift balance is not supported everywhere. It is worth checking in the payment section of your account.
