About the eXtra card
eXtra is a large electronics and home appliance chain in the Gulf countries. Its stores operate in Saudi Arabia as well as Bahrain and Oman, and the chain also runs an online storefront. The range is built around consumer technology: smartphones and accessories, laptops, tablets, monitors, televisions and soundbars, headphones and audio systems, games consoles and games. Two other substantial categories are large appliances (fridges, washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners) and kitchen equipment: cookers, extractor hoods, microwaves, coffee machines, blenders. There are also home goods and smart devices. An eXtra gift card pays for purchases across this range: it works as a payment method at the till or at checkout, with the customer covering any difference in the usual way.
How to redeem the card
- Pick an item in one of the chain's stores, or build an order in its online storefront.
- At the till, tell the cashier you are paying with a gift card and present the code or the card itself.
- When ordering online, choose the gift card option at the payment step and enter the number and the PIN, if one is given.
- Check that the card's amount has been applied to the order, and pay the remainder by another method.
- Keep the code until you have the item — you may need it for an exchange or return.

Can I use the card for a large appliance with delivery and installation?
The appliance itself is paid for with the card in the normal way. Related services — delivery, carrying it up, connection — are priced separately, so check how they are paid for with the salesperson when you order.
What currency is the balance held in?
The card is denominated in the currency of the country it was issued for — Bahraini dinars or Omani rials, for example. It makes sense to use it in the country it was issued for.
What if the item costs more than the card's value?
The card covers part of the total and you pay the rest by bank card or in cash. Splitting payment between a gift card and another method is standard practice in retail.
And if the item costs less than the card's value?
As a rule, the unspent portion stays on the card's balance and can be used on a later purchase. The remainder is not normally paid out in cash.
