OBI is a chain of hypermarkets for the home, renovation and garden, founded in Germany and operating in several European countries, including Poland. The range covers building materials and dry mixes, tools and fasteners, paints and wallpaper, tiles, plumbing, electrical goods and lighting, flooring, doors, storage furniture, and kitchen and household textiles. A large section of its own is the garden: plants and soil, seeds, garden machinery, terrace furniture, grills and watering systems. A gift card pays for a purchase at the checkout in the chain's stores and, in some countries, for an order in its online shop. The format works well when the recipient wants to pick materials for a specific project themselves: from a can of paint and a box of screws to a mixer tap, an interior door or a lawnmower. If the purchase costs more than the value of the card, the difference is usually covered by another payment method.
