Steam is Valve's digital platform for buying and running PC games — at once a store, a library and a social network with friends, reviews, achievements and a workshop for user-made modifications. A Steam Wallet code adds funds to an account's internal balance, which then pays for anything sold on the platform: games and add-ons, item bundles and in-game currencies for supported titles, software from the catalogue, gifts for other users, and purchases on the Steam Community Market. Wallet funds cannot be withdrawn or moved to another account — they are spent inside the store. The code is tied to the currency and region it was issued for: it can top up an account whose wallet currency matches the currency of the code.
