Timezone is a chain of family entertainment centres built around arcade machines. Its venues operate in Australia, India and a number of countries across the Asia-Pacific region, most often inside large shopping centres. The core of the format is arcade and simulator machines — racing, shooting, skill games and prize machines that award tickets for your score, which are exchanged for prizes at the venue's redemption counter. Depending on the size of the site, this may be joined by bowling, laser tag, go-karting, bumper cars and areas for children's parties. Payment inside a centre usually does not involve cash at each machine: instead you use a game card loaded in advance with credit or a package of plays. A gift card tops up that game account or pays for entry and extra activities at the front desk.
