About the Cabify card
Cabify is a ride-hailing service founded in Madrid that operates in Spain and across Latin America, including Argentina and Colombia. Passengers book a car through the mobile app: the route and the fare are visible before the trip is confirmed, and payment is handled cashlessly in-app through a linked method or the account balance. Several service tiers are available, from standard city rides to higher-comfort vehicles, along with scheduled trips, airport journeys and corporate profiles for business travel. In some cities the company also runs adjacent services such as delivery. A gift card tops up the balance of a Cabify account, and those funds go toward rides and related services. The code is tied to the country and currency it was issued in, so the balance is spent in the region it was meant for.
How to redeem the card
- Install the Cabify app and sign in to your account, or register a new one.
- Open the side menu and go to the payments, wallet or promo code section.
- Enter the code from the gift card in the activation field and confirm.
- Check that the amount has appeared in your account balance.
- When booking a ride, choose to pay from the balance — the funds are deducted once the trip ends.
FAQ
What happens if a ride costs more than my balance?
The balance is used first, and the difference is charged to the linked payment method. The app shows the breakdown on the receipt after the trip.
Can I use the balance in another country?
No. The account holds the balance in the currency of the country where it was activated, and it can only be spent on rides in that same region.
Does the balance cover tips and surcharges?
As a rule the balance pays for the ride itself and the fees attached to it, such as waiting time or extra stops. How tips are handled depends on the city and on your app settings.
Do I need a bank card if I already have a gift code?
The app may ask for a payment method during registration and account verification, even when the ride is fully covered by the balance.
