About the Cruz Verde card
Cruz Verde is a pharmacy chain operating in Latin America, including Colombia and Guatemala. Alongside medicines, its pharmacies carry a broad non-pharmaceutical range: vitamins and supplements, skin and hair care, color cosmetics, hygiene products, goods for mothers and babies — diapers, baby food, bottles — as well as medical devices: blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, orthopedic products and dressings. Some locations run in a drugstore format, with shelves of household cleaning products and everyday essentials. A gift card is normally used to pay for a purchase at one of the chain's pharmacies, while prescription medicines are dispensed under the general rules of the country. The assortment and the payment procedure differ between Colombia and Guatemala.
How to redeem the card
- Check which country the card was issued for — this determines the currency and the network of locations where the card is accepted.
- Put together your purchase at one of the chain's pharmacies: medicines, personal care, household and baby products.
- At the register, say that you are paying with a gift card and present the card, or the code with its PIN.
- The staff member deducts the amount from the balance; if the purchase costs more, cover the difference with another payment method.
- Keep the card and the receipt — they let you confirm the remaining balance before your next visit.
FAQ
Can the card be used to pay for prescription medicines?
The payment method does not change dispensing rules: prescription-only medicines are released against a doctor's prescription. In that case the card covers the cost of the purchase; it does not replace the prescription.
Does the card work for a pharmacy order with delivery?
Online gift card payment is not supported in every country or on every one of the chain's platforms. Acceptance in the pharmacy itself is more predictable, so it is worth checking in advance whether delivery can be paid for this way.
Can the card be combined with insurance or a subsidized program?
That depends on the rules of the particular reimbursement program. Usually part of the bill goes through the program and the remaining amount can be paid with a gift card — staff at the register can explain how the calculation works.
