About the AUCHAN card

Auchan is a French retail chain operating hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores, along with grocery delivery in a number of countries. The range is broad: food and drink, household chemicals and homeware, products for children, pet supplies, seasonal textiles, kitchenware, small appliances and electronics. The chain also has its own private labels, which take up a noticeable share of the shelf. A gift card pays for purchases at the checkout in the chain's stores and, where the chain supports it, for online orders too. Card values in euros, Hungarian forints and hryvnias correspond to the different markets the chain operates in: a card is used in the country it was issued for, in that country's currency. It works well as a practical gift for everyday needs — the recipient spends the value on whatever basket they actually need.

How to redeem the card

  1. Make sure the card is being used in the country and currency it was issued for.
  2. Shop in one of the chain's stores, or place an online order where that option is available.
  3. At the checkout, hand the card or the code to the cashier before the transaction is completed.
  4. For an online order, enter the card code in the gift card payment field at the checkout step.
  5. If the basket total exceeds the card value, pay the difference in cash or by bank card.

FAQ

Are there items that cannot be paid for with a gift card?

Grocery retailers usually exclude certain categories from payment by voucher — tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets, utility payments and mobile top-ups, for example. The exact list depends on the country and the chain's own rules.

Can the card be used together with the chain's loyalty card?

As a rule these are independent of each other: the loyalty card records the purchase under its own rules, while the gift card simply acts as a payment method. Check how it works at the checkout.

Can the value be split across several purchases?

Usually yes: if the receipt comes to less than the card value, the balance stays on the card for next time. You can check the balance at the checkout or in your account with the chain.

Does the card work in the chain's other store formats?

Within one country the card is most often accepted across all of the chain's formats, from hypermarket to convenience store. Cards do not carry over between countries.
