About the Costa Coffee card

Costa Coffee is a British coffeehouse chain founded in London and present in dozens of countries. The menu covers espresso and espresso-based drinks, iced coffee, tea and hot chocolate, along with pastries, sandwiches, salads and desserts. Alongside its traditional coffee shops, the brand operates Costa Express self-service machines and sells beans, ground coffee and capsules for making coffee at home. A gift card is normally used to pay for an order in one of the chain's coffee shops: drinks, food and related items such as branded mugs and travel cups where a particular location stocks them. The range available and the payment methods accepted depend on the country and on whether the site is run by a franchise partner.

How to redeem the card

  1. Check which country the card was issued for: the card's currency must match the coffee shop's currency.
  2. Choose your drinks and food in one of the chain's coffee shops.
  3. At the counter, say you are paying with a gift card and present the card or the code with its PIN.
  4. The cashier deducts the amount from the card balance; anything left over stays available for future purchases.
  5. If the order costs more than the balance, pay the difference by another method.

FAQ

Will the card be accepted at a Costa Express self-service machine?

These machines are usually set up for contactless and bank card payments, while gift cards are handled at coffee shop counters. If you plan to use the card at a self-service point, check in advance whether that is possible there.

Can I pay with the card at a coffee shop in another country?

No. The card is tied to the country and currency it was issued in, so it should be used in the chain it was issued for.

Do all of the chain's coffee shops accept gift cards?

Some locations — in airports, railway stations and shopping centers — are run under franchise and may have their own payment rules. In those places it is worth asking staff about the card before ordering.
