About the Trip.com card

Trip.com is an international online travel booking service, part of Trip.com Group. Travellers use it to find and pay for flights, hotel rooms and apartments, rail tickets, car hire, airport transfers, tours and entry tickets to attractions. The service operates in many countries, the interface is translated into dozens of languages, and prices are shown in the currency of the chosen region. A gift card tops up the balance of a Trip.com account, and those funds are then applied at checkout — generally on bookings where payment goes to the service itself rather than to the hotel at the front desk on arrival. The card value is tied to a regional currency, so a card in SGD, THB, MYR or IDR is used on the corresponding regional version of the site or mobile app.

How to redeem the card

  1. Sign in to your Trip.com account in the app or on the site for the region whose currency the card was issued in.
  2. Open the wallet or gift cards section in your user profile.
  3. Select the option to activate a card and enter the code from the voucher you received.
  4. Check that the account balance has increased by the card value.
  5. Make a booking and, at the payment step, choose to draw on the account balance.

FAQ

What if the booking costs more than the card value?

The service takes the available amount from the balance and offers to settle the remainder by bank card or another method available in your region. Splitting payment in two is usually possible directly on the order confirmation screen.

Does the card work for hotels that are paid on arrival?

No. The account balance applies only where payment goes through the service itself. If the booking terms say payment is due at the hotel, you settle at the front desk directly and the Trip.com balance plays no part.

Does the card currency limit where you can travel?

The currency determines which regional version of the service will accept the card, not the country you travel to. With a card in THB or SGD you can book hotels and tickets in different countries — the amount is simply converted into your account's currency.

Do funds return to the balance if a booking is cancelled?

That depends on the fare of the specific booking. If the fare is refundable, the service usually returns the amount by the same route — back to the account balance. Non-refundable fares carry no refund regardless of how they were paid.
