About the TGI Fridays card
TGI Fridays is an American casual dining chain that started in New York in 1965 and later spread across dozens of countries through franchising. The restaurants are recognisable by their red-and-white stripes, the bar in the middle of the room, and an American-style menu: burgers, steaks, chicken wings, pork ribs in sauce, fries, salads, sharing starters and desserts. The bar, with its cocktails and non-alcoholic mixes, is a defining part of the concept. A TGI Fridays gift card settles the bill at the chain's restaurants in the country the card was issued for, and in some countries it also covers takeaway or orders placed through the chain's own delivery service. Can the card cover alcohol and tips?
That depends on local law and the franchisee's rules: in some countries alcoholic items and the service charge are handled as a separate line and fall outside the gift card. Ask the staff before ordering if it matters to you.
Will a card from one country work at a restaurant in another?
No. Balances are issued for a specific market — dollars, Philippine pesos or Malaysian ringgit — and are accepted only at restaurants in the corresponding country.
What if the party is large and the bill comes to well over the card value?
The card can serve as partial payment: the cashier deducts its amount and the remainder of the bill is settled any other way. Not every location accepts several codes against one bill, so it is worth asking the staff.
