About the 7-Eleven card
7-Eleven is an international convenience store chain and one of the most recognizable names in round-the-clock retail. Its stores are small and sit close to housing, transport hubs and offices, built around the quick purchase: prepared food and drinks, snacks, coffee, baked goods, everyday essentials, small household items and toiletries. The chain is especially well developed across Asia, where stores also serve as a place to pay bills, collect parcels and handle other routine errands, and where the prepared-food range is noticeably broader than usual. The gift card works as a means of payment at the register. Denominations are issued in the currency of the country — SGD, TWD or VND — and are accepted in the chain's stores on the matching market, since the chain is run by different operators from country to country.
How to redeem the card
- Check which country the card is meant for: it works in the chain's stores on the market whose currency the denomination is issued in.
- Collect your purchase in the store and go to the register.
- Show the code or voucher to the cashier before payment begins — on your phone screen or printed out.
- Wait for the receipt total to drop by the value of the card.
- If the purchase costs more, pay the difference in cash or by bank card.
FAQ
Why didn't the card work in a store of the same chain in another country?
The chain runs on a franchise basis, and the stores in Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam belong to different operators with their own till systems. A card from one country is not recognized at a register in another, so it is worth matching the currency of the denomination to the specific trip or recipient.
Are there goods the card cannot pay for?
As a rule, the restrictions cover tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets, transport and phone top-ups, and bill payments. The exact list depends on the chain's operator in each country — the simplest thing is to ask at the register before paying.
Do I need an account or an app to use the card?
For an in-store purchase the code itself is usually enough. The chain's app may be useful if you want to link the card to a profile and keep an eye on the balance, but it is not a condition of payment.
